Well, that's it, the end of our seven days as safali-yan in the world of Neo-Patwa. You should now have a good foundation to build on, if you want to speak Neo-Patwa. If you do want to continue, I would suggest using the vocabulary you have and when you find things you don't know how to say, learn how to say them. The language is still being worked on by it's creator, Jens, and you can contact him at the official site with questions or suggestions.

Unfortunately this lessons was far more useful in teaching Indonesian to an American in Indonesia than it will be to someone learning Neo-Patwa. Oh well, such is the price you pay for being an early adopter. Something more useful is that Neo-Patwa has many words derived from English, so they are relatively easy to remember. Here's a few in handy table format.

A few of these might not be readily apparent, so the dictionary should be consulted. Also, many Neo-Patwa words have a much broader range of meanings than words in natlangs. So, work on this, look up other English-based words in the dictionary, and keep looking for things to plug into the partial phrases from the lessons. Only one more to go. Excited?

How much?

With this lesson you should go through the Neo-Patwa dictionary and find words that interest you. Find things to insert into the '...' parts of the phrases. You can also negate things by inserting 'no' before the verb, so you can say, for example, 'Mi no suka ...' (I don't like ...).

Also, it is acceptable to use a proper noun with a class suffix. 'I like Guinness Stout' could be 'Mi suka Guinness-biya'. 'Where can I buy a Rottweiler?' would be 'Mi sabe kini Rottweiler-ulu anda kelado?'

Well, here we are on day four already. Numbers are very useful, but also not a very interesting thing to learn. At least that's always been my experience. Some other number words are the suffix -pela, which shows you are counting something (e.g. calpela balu, or in english, four bears) and the prefix nume- for the ordinals (e.g. nume-wan for first). While writing this I noticed that I have been titling my posts wrong. Calpela din is four days, but Nume-cal di din, fourth day, would probably make more sense. Oh well.

So for day two, directions. Maybe not that useful in a language where you will most likely never meet another speaker, but it does give you the ability to say things in Neo-Patwa, to get used to using it. Once again, I'm not perfect, so there could be mistakes. Memorize this, maybe give yourself directions as you drive around and come back tomorrow (maybe) for the next lesson.

Xanti.

So, for day one a few pleasantries. Memorize these and practice saying them and tomorrow maybe I'll have day two up and running.

Tanul Neo-Patwa di Toki po Sempela Din, Kaixi

I am writing these to help me with my Neo-Patwa, a constructed language built out of simplified words from many different languages and inspired in part by the Mulivo and LangX projects. These are seven lessons meant to be completed in one week, one lesson per day. The vocabulary is based on Bahasa Indonesia in Seven Days. I'm not perfect so there could be mistakes, and also the language itself is in an early stage and seems to change occasionally.
